Jingula,
I am a minyungbal-yugambeh and ni-vanuatu julgany. My family are from Pooningbah (Fingal head) and my great-grandfather was blackbirded from Tanna Island Vanuatu.
I was fortunate to learn weaving from several different Elders and teachers who lovingly guided my practice, and I will always be thankful for their generosity.
Bilanggil means ‘place of the she-oaks”
Each of the items are named in my language from different parts of Country and specifically the plants. This speaks to my desire to learn more of my language and understand my Country. I hope you enjoy learning this aspect of my culture as you explore what I’ve created.
